Spring Band Concert

Submitted by jolynn.ford on

The Band Classes (with help from Mr. Stolworthy) put on a great final concert for this year. Every class played at some point, including beginning, concert, and jazz band with special songs by the percussion ensemble and the guitar class. The songs were very student involved, including familiar themes such as Harry Potter and Star Wars, and eventually ending with all the band classes playing Mission Impossible together. It was a very fun concert to end a great year at Salem Jr. High. Don’t worry if you missed it though.

Orchestra Festival

Submitted by jolynn.ford on

On Monday, April 29th, Salem Jr. High’s advanced and beginning orchestras had the opportunity to go and play at an orchestra festival at UVU.  They performed in front of judges who evaluated them on how well they played.  They were also judged on their professionalism, musical balance, tune, and more. When the orchestra finished their songs, the judges went on stage and either helped them on parts that needed improvement, or praised them for a job well done. I asked Mr. Wells, our orchestra teacher, what he thought of the festival.

On Friday, May 3rd, Salem had a great pre-district meet against Springville and  Mapleton. Many people both had personal records and team/district records. Everyone worked so hard to beat their best times and measurements to qualify for the district track meet being held on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10. Congratulations to Paige Simmons by winning the 100m, 200m, 400m, and high jump. Adrene Harding did an amazing job running distance for Salem in the 800m and 1600m.
