Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Vanessa Gillie! She is Nebo School District's teacher of the year for Salem Jr High School.

“Vanessa cares about the success of her students and works hard to engage students to learn at their very best level. One students said, ‘She is a phenomenal teacher making class fun. She is always patient and very positive.’

“Vanessa teaches new teachers strategies that provide hope and help to teachers with very difficult classes and situations. She is always thinking about ways to make the English Department and school better.”

Nebo School District in partnership with Spanish Fork City presents a virtual Love and Logic Parenting Workshop.

“There's a lot of advice out there on how to raise your kids – some better than others. ‘Love and Logic’ is a favorite of therapists, family life educators, teachers, principals, and most importantly parents. It is practical, easy to learn, and really effective! Come and enjoy this fun, upbeat, and informative workshop full of useful tips!” – Jonathan Sherman, LMFT, Family Therapist and Parent Educator

Only 32 and a Half Days Left!: At this time a year ago we were abruptly dismissed from school with uncertainty of when we would return. Then our hearts broke a little when we were told we would not be returning in April and May. In August, while many schools in Utah and around the country remained in remote mode, we were so grateful to be able to return to school in person face to face. This year has been uniquely challenging and in many ways uniquely rewarding. I just want to take a minute and thank all of the Salem Jr.

End of Level Testing: End of level testing for 8th graders begins April 12 and will continue for the following 4 weeks. Students will be tested in Writing, Math Language Arts and Science. 9th grade students will take the ACT Aspire test on april 20th and 21st. This assesses understanding of core standards in Reading, Writing, English, Math and Science. It is a good tool to help students and parents monitor progress towards a successful ACT test that they will take in high school.
