On January 25th and 26th, seven students from Salem Junior High School participated in State Honor Choir. The students were: Hannah Armstrong, Stephanie Davis, Reagan Fausett, Zoe Kennedy, Nathan Millington, Jackson Badger, and Joel Mason. This choir was made up of seven or eight auditioned students from each Junior High throughout Utah. The event took place at Cottonwood High School in Murray. Each person in the choir was given five pieces of music which they had to learn on their own before the concert. Their teachers also held a few practices to ensure that everyone knew their part, and on the 25th, the students and their teachers were bused up to Murray for their first practice with the entire 384 choir members. The rehearsal lasted from 9:00 a.m, to 5:00 p.m (about eight hours). The next day, (January 26th), the concert for this choir was held at 3:00 p.m and ending around 4:30. This was a life changing experience; being able to be surrounded by people who live for and love music was amazing! I hope that this program will continue and touch many more lives to come.
