Submitted by neely.mcewan on Tue, 08/27/2019 - 13:22

The Utah State Board of Education has selected our very own Nikki Mendenhall as one of only five 2019 Utah finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science teaching. Awards are given to mathematics and science teachers from each of the 50 states and four U.S. jurisdictions. The award recognizes those teachers who develop and implement a high-quality instructional program that is informed by content knowledge and enhances student learning. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science (including computer science) education. The National Science Foundation administers PAEMST on behalf of The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Congratulations Miss Mendenhall! You are an integral part of Salem Jr High and we are so proud of you!

New Traffic Pattern

Submitted by neely.mcewan on Mon, 08/19/2019 - 12:16
It is no small task getting 1200 students to and from school each day, and we appreciate all of the support and help from our patrons as we seek to make pick up and drop off run as smoothly as possible. Please note that we are making some adjustments, and we appreciate your support in helping us to make this a safer plan for students and drivers. The traffic pattern is changing in the North lot. To make things more convenient, there will be three open doors each morning until the bell rings to start the school day (noted in yellow). After that time, only the front door will remain unlocked for safety purposes and students will need to check in at the front office.
As always, the middle lot is designated for faculty parking and bus pick up/drop off only. Additionally, please follow the traffic pattern in the South parking lot so that staff and visitors are able to park. Please visit our website for an up to date map on the expected flow of the lots both before and after school.
Thanks again for your help in getting our students get to school and home safely each day!
