Beautiful Choir Concert

Our choirs had an amazing performance at their fall choir concert last night. Thank you for sharing your talents and your beautiful voices!

New Teacher - Kara Mikesell

We are so excited to welcome Kara Mikesell to our math team here at Salem Jr. High.  She received her bachelor's degree from BYU and her master's degree from SUU. She taught elementary school for 6 years and then taught online classes to adults for 8 1/2 years.  Mrs. Mikesell lives in Payson with her husband and their four children.  She LOVES to bake, garden, read, and watch movies with my family.  Mrs. Mikesell collects many things, salt and pepper shakers, and rocks...too many rocks :-).

Dean of Students - Emily Hiatt

We are excited to welcome Emily Hiatt to Salem Jr High this year as our Dean of Students!

Mrs. Hiatt was born in Sacramento, California and lived there until she moved to Utah for college.  She worked as a CNA for five years and then as a teacher for eight years.  She taught 7th/8th science at Providence Hall Jr for 3 years and Biology at Landmark HS for 5 years.  Mrs.Hiatt is married and have two little kids which means she watches a lot of Cocomelon and goes to the park too often.

Fall Choir Concert

Join us for our Salem Jr High Fall Choral Concert tomorrow, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. It will be held in the auditorium at Salem Hills High School.

Our students are excited to share the songs they have been working hard to learn and polish.

Girls Tennis District Finals

Congratulations to our Lady Spartans tennis teams at their District Championship Tournament!

The JV team took 2nd overall!  Anna Richardson and Hartley Huntington finished first in their doubles division while the rest of the girls finished second in their divisions.

Our Varsity Lady Spartans finished 1st and brought home the GOLD!

Way to go coaches and teams!

New Teacher - Kevin Bateman

We are excited to have Kevin Bateman as our new band director at Salem Jr. High this year!. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University. While at BYU, he was the president and trumpet soloist for the Cougar Marching Band, played lead trumpet in the Pep Band and Jazz Ensemble, assistant principal trumpet in both the Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony as well as being a member of
BYU’s Synthesis. Mr. Bateman attended American Fork High School, where he was the principal trumpet of their Wind Symphony and

New Teacher - Patty Holt

We are excite to have Mrs. Holt join our CTE team at Salem Jr High this year! She loves doing puzzles, reading a good book, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Holt's family has a small family orchard in Haskellville (south of Salem) and this time of year they enjoy creating a lot of apple goodness like freshly pressed apple juice, apple sauce, apple butter, and apple pies. Mrs. Holt has 3 children, and 2 grandsons (grandson number 3 is due in December). She loves chocolate covered cinnamon bears and diet coke.

Libraries, schools, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for support to host their own Mini Reading Marathon. Support ranges from $100-500.
