Our very own Nikki Lamoreaux, a mathematics teacher at Salem Junior High, was honored this past week at the Utah Teacher of Mathematics Conference for the state of Utah. Ms. Lamoreaux received the George Shell Award.

This award is given to an exemplary secondary mathematics teacher and recipients of this award encourage student achievement by the following ways:

Daniel Stolworthy is the band teacher at Salem Jr High. When he was in junior high, he was obsessed with legos and the color orange.  Mr. Stolworthy loves to go biking in Moab and St. George.

We are so proud of our Salem Jr. High Battle of the Books Team, The Caterpillars!  They earned the title of Junior High -  District Champs at the District Battle of the Books Competition.  Congratulations and awesome job to Evelyn Loor, Rachel Peterson, Mary Linford, Sydnie Utter, and Alayna Maestas!

Special Ed Teacher Needed: We currently have an opening for a special education teacher. This position is full-time beginning the 2022-2023 school year. SPED Teaching certification with mild-moderate endorsement required. You can apply through the district website using this link.

Julie Mayo works in Nutrition/Lunch at Salem Jr High. When she started junior high, she had permed hair, curled bangs, braces and glasses.  Mrs. Mayo loves working at the school and having the same days off as her children.  She calls it the perfect "Mom" job.

June Williamson teaches math and study skills at Salem Jr High. In seventh grade she won a prize at a school dance for "going down the Soul Train" wearing wire-rimmed glasses and a white jumpsuit with big bell bottoms.  Now Mrs. Williamson has a cooking show on Spanish Fork TV and is known for saying, "Happy Cooking!"

Jr High Boys Tennis Meeting: We will have a meeting next week on Tuesday the 22nd at 3:00 P.M. in the Salem Jr High Library.

Anne Cook is the finance secretary at Salem Jr. At the age of 6, she was the Springville High School Red Devil mascot, because her older sister was a cheerleader.  Mrs. Cook's favorite class in junior high was typing--back when you learned on a real typewriter, not a computer.
