Our 2018 boys tennis season ended today with a big bang.  Late this afternoon our #2 singles player, Eric Cheney, played the final match of the district tournament against his counterpart from Mapleton.  The winner of the match would end up as the #3 player in that position, and the loser would drop to the #4 spot.  More importantly, the winner of that match would determine which team would end the season as the district's tennis champion, an honor which typically goes to Mapleton.

The Mapleton player quickly took a 2-0 game lead in a match which required four games to win.  However, Eric gathered himself and stormed back to win the next four games to win the match and give his Spartans teammates the 2018 title.  The final team score was Salem with 29 points and Mapleton with 28. On Monday our JV team played well and tied Mapleton for second place in the district.  Spanish Fork took the JV title. Included is a photo of our varsity team celebrating it's victory- missing from the photo are Zac Anson and Garrison Durrant, our #3 doubles team. Have a great spring season, Spartans! coach Fillerup
