Submitted by sam.mcgrath on Tue, 03/26/2019 - 15:50

Mrs. Roberts' biology class learned about DNA replication in a simulation that inolved all students in a hands-on activity.  Students had ropes and blocks that represented the 4 chemicals that make up DNA strands which they had to string on their ropes to create the proper DNA strand produced in their DNA replication. Students enjoyed getting out of their desks and interacting with their friends while they learned in a fun and engaging way.

Jazz Band District Assessment

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on Mon, 03/25/2019 - 10:34

On Tuesday, March 19th, the jazz band students attended the district jazz band assessment held at the Summit Center in Springville. They performed well and earned a II+ rating, very close to superior. The judge and clinician for the day was Brent Applonie, a former music educator and current faculty member at BYU. These kids have come a long way and over half of them are playing instruments they only just started this year. There are more good times ahead for these you g students.

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on Mon, 03/11/2019 - 10:52

High school counselors came today to talk to the 9th-grade students about registering for 10th grade. 10th-grade registration is so fun because students have so many new classes that they can take. It can be overwhelming too. To help, we will be posting fliers and videos sent to us from teachers at SHHS who want kids to sign up for their classes.

Freshman Day at SHHS

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on Mon, 03/04/2019 - 15:03

Our 9th graders were invited to Salem Hills for Freshman Day on March 4th. They started with an assembly where they met the administration and some lucky recipients even got the coveted SHHS socks! From there they ventured to the gym to explore clubs and activities they can join next year. The day ended with donuts and school tours. While Salem Jr. will be sad to see them go, these freshmen are looking forward to becoming Skyhawks! High school registration information will be coming home soon!
