The journalism class at SaJHS distributed the September issue of the Spartan Chronicle to all students Thursday during 8th period. This is the second year that SaJHS has publised a student newspaper. Last year, students enjoyed 3 issues of the Spartan Chronicle. The 2014-15 staff has plans to publish at least 4 print-versions of the Spartan Chronicle and has added a video news show that will have a weekly episode.
The Spartan Chronicle, which is in its second year of publication, has added a new way for students and parents to get information about what's going on at Salem Junior High. Student Editors-in-Chief, Delaney Christensen and Whitney Wilde, have started a news show. View the trailer for thier upcoming episodes here.
For the second year in a row, SaJHS hosted a special education extravaganza last Thursday, September 18th. Special education students from various junior highs in the district came to enjoy booths, food, treats, and a dance.

On Friday Sept. 12th, both Salem Jr. High and Mt. Nebo Jr. High Bands joined the Salem Hills Skyhawk Marching Band for the football game against Timpview High School. Students came together for good food, fun music, and an exciting football game (for the first half at least). Here's some pictures of the fun.
The administration bravely endured the ALS ice bucket challenge today during a scheduled fire drill in front the entire student body. Students were clamoring to get a view of Mr. Fleming, Mr. Mecham, and Mrs. Haider get doused by ice water that poured out of a tractor bucket while Mr. Roberts and Mrs. Cook were drenched by their co-workers. Each participant listed who they were challenging shortly before the student body began a 10-second count down.
Over one-hundred students from all of Nebo School District’s junior high schools participate in the two-day Nebo Shakespeare Academy. This fun-filled summer event features ice-breaker games, theatre motion, voice technique, acting competitions, food, and FUN!
Mapleton Junior High School was full of excitement and energy as students learned the value of good collaboration and healthy competition.
Students interested in running with the Cross Country Team this year should attend an informational meeting on August 21 at 2:45 p.m. in Ms. Rowley's classroom #108. Parents are welcome to attend.

Congratulations to the girls and boys track team who finished 3rd overall in last week's district track championship. Jordan Blanchard, Head Track Coach, is very proud of the hard work and dedication that SaJHS track members showed this year. "We are very happy because we had so many personal records this season. Our athletes were improving week after week," Blanchard explains. "Also, the size of our team increased by almost 40 athletes from last year to 165 participants."
