District Intramural Weightlifting

Submitted by jolynn.ford on

SaJHS sent nearly 30 students to the intramural weightlifting competition at Diamond Fork Jr. High on Feb 19. Students attempted to lift a set weight as many times as they could, achieve the best time, or jump the highest. Events included bench press, military press, leg press, pull ups, vertical jump, and shuttle run. What was most impressive was that even though our students were competing against students from other schools they were still cheering them on to do better. It was a really great atmosphere.

Opposite Day

Submitted by jolynn.ford on

On Friday, January 25th, 2013, it was opposite day here at Salem Junior High. Teachers were able to wear jeans and dress up like the students. The students got to wear skirts and ties to dress up as the teachers. It was fun to see how many people participated and had fun changing their style for a day. Although clothing wasn’t the only thing that was changed, the lunches were switched also. People with first lunch went to second lunch. People with second lunch went to first lunch. It was interesting to go to lunch at different times.

On February 1, 2013 the 1st annual “Soup”er Bowl took place at Salem Jr. High School. Ten teams of students got together in the foods room to have a “soup” cook off.The judges were the thirty lucky people that came and tried the fantastic soup. Using their spoons, they voted for the most delicious soup. We had many different people come.  We had custodians, students, and even the Principal. We had a blast! The room was decked out in Raven and 49ers decorations. We had all types of soup; chili, broccoli, cream, potato, and many more.
