We are happy to thank South Valley Gym for their generous donation to our Track & Field program. They donated matching shorts, polos, athletic pants and jackets for six coaches. All were embroidered with our Salem S and Track & Field. We are thankful for their dedication to our community and the programs of Salem Jr. High School. Their donations promoted unity among our coaching staff and the track and field team. As we travel to represent our school and community we look great and are very distinctive.
The Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce has awarded two Salem Junior High students to be a member of their Great Kids Award program: Harley Dixon and Josh Cowden. Harley and Josh were given the award at a ceremony at the Scera Theater in Orem on April 30. They truly are great kids and we are very proud of them!!
Last week, Salem Junior High School had its very first Gender Wars! Every day at lunch the Student Council would choose boys and girls to compete against each other. They would have to complete various tasks such as rolling toilet paper out with their nose, or even seeing who could pull all of the tissues out of a tissue box first. There were always two teams consisting of girls and boys. Whoever finished their task first was the winner! The best part? At the end of the week the gender with the most wins of all the competitions would get a dollar off to go to the dance.
