Utah Honor Flight Fundraiser

Submitted by neely.mcewan on

Students at Salem Jr High School have the privilege of assisting Utah Honor Flight in honoring veterans by giving them the opportunity to travel to Washington DC. The veterans will be able to visit the war memorials that were built in their honor.

For most Veterans, visiting their War Memorial is a truly profound experience, a time to cherish, remember, honor, and heal.

More love and support comes to our students from Diamond Fork Junior High

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on

Students at Diamond Fork Junior created a banner and signed messages of support for our students who are still under mandatory evacuation. Everyone here at Salem Junior is so appreciative of what these students have done to show our kids that they care. These kind words and messages of support have helped boost the spirits of our students.

Springville Junior High shows their love for Salem Junior High students.

The student council at Springville Junior coordinated an act of love and support for our students today. They recognized that some of our students are stressed and worried about the Pole Creek fire as it threatens their homes. So, they sent a large banner with messages of support along with a thousand hand-written notes with treats attached that will be handed out to students.

We are very touched by the love and support that the students at Springville Junior have shown during this time.

Fire and Evacuations

Although school is being held today, please do what you feel is best for your students. We understand that families need to be together during difficult times, and we will work closely with students who miss school because of the fire and evacuations.

Also, students who come to school today will be kept inside all day to avoid breathing the contaminated air.

School-wide Read Aloud - Restart

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on

In an effort to encourage literacy with all of our students, the English department decided to try a school-wide read aloud to start off the year. Every English teacher has been reading the book Restart, by Gordon Korman, to their classes. Students have been participating in online discussions with other classes, answering questions about the development of the story and the various themes that they have seen developing.
