Chromebook Insurance: Chromebook insurance is $30. If you would like to purchase chromebook insurance, you can bring your money into the school and pay the finance office or pay online at MySchoolFees. The deadline to purchase insurance is coming up. Any damage or loss of a chromebook without insurance will be charged up to $250 to your student's account. The insurance is optional but we recommend it because even minor damage and repairs to chromebooks often cost more than the insurance does.

Picture Day: Picture day is next Tuesday the 23rd of August. See the attached flier for more information.

Closed Campus: Just a reminder that Salem Jr High is a closed campus. Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds from the time they arrive in the morning until the time they leave at the end of the day. This includes lunch time, meaning no drink runs, no being picked up by high school friends or siblings and no walking to Stokes for lunch. The only exception to this is if a student is checked out at the office by a parent or someone formally designated by the parent in Infinite Campus.

How to pay into your student's lunch account? Go to Infinite Campus Parent Portal and log in.  Then click on "Food Service" in the left-hand column. You will then be able to click on "Pay" and you should be good to go.

Think you may qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch? Go to Infinite Campus Parent Portal and log in. Then click on "More" in the left-hand column. Then click on "Meal Benefits" and finally click on "click here to start the application process".

Pick-up/Drop-off information: Please follow the directions in the Traffic Map Link to help make pickup and drop-off as smooth as possible. Please have patience with the system as it just takes time to have over 1000 students picked up or dropped off at the same time. Also, we are asking that you do not drop off or pick up your students on the west side of main street for their safety.

Parent Consultant for Special Education Services: The Utah Parent Center has partnered with Nebo School District to provide free assistance to families of children with special educational needs. If you have questions about IEP's, IDEA law or special education services, follow this link to learn more.

Athletics: Calling all Athletes (all students) and Parents,

The time is now for sports and athletics. Any student can come and be involved. It is a great way to learn about teamwork, community and have fun together.

The fall sports we offer at the Junior High are Girls Tennis, and Boys and Girls Cross Country.  These start in the next couple of weeks. Meeting dates are down below.

The sports we offer in winter are Girls and Boys Basketball, and Girls and Boys Wrestling.

Our Spring sports are Boys tennis, and Girls and Boys Track and Field.

If you are interested in any of these sports, now is a great time to take care of your Pre-participation Physicals and registermyathlete.com.  This is the link for the form:

https://www.uhsaa.org/forms/forma.pdf

Get these done early because you can't participate (tryout or practice) unless everything is done beforehand.

Girls Tennis: Girls tennis will be having their Parent/Guardian and Athlete meeting with the Coaches, Thursday 8/18 at 3pm in the Library.

Boys and Girls Cross Country: Cross country will be having their Parent/Guardian and Athlete meeting with the Coaches, Friday 8/19 at 3pm in Rm 211, Mosbacker's room.

Contact our athletic director Casey Boyer casey.boyer [at] nebo.edu (casey[dot]boyer[at]nebo[dot]edu) if you have any questions.

Opportunity to learn about college recruiting in athletics: If you'd like to know how colleges and universities recruit athletes, students and parents are invited to a special recruiting education meeting hosted by Salem Hills High School, August 29th at 7:00 PM. We would like all athletes (grades 9 through 12) interested in sports beyond high school to attend.
