Teaching is a Journey provides space for PK-12 teachers of mathematics to connect with other mathematics teachers through their stories that lend personal and professional support. In the January issue, junior high school mathematics teacher, Nikki Lamoreaux, shares how she incorporated the principles from a three-year professional development program focused on comprehensive mathematics instruction into her classroom.
Nikki explained, “You can do this. It is basically just my story of seeing that the students are totally capable of being amazing problem solvers. Teachers have the ability to make their classroom the place that students can become the problem solvers. If teachers have the right mind set, they can become that teacher. It is just magical.”
