John Humphries Donates Instruments to Salem Junior for Eagle Project

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on

Mr. Knudsen, Mr. Stolworthy, and everyone else here at Salem Junior High would like to thank John Humphries for his Eagle project as a Boy Scout. John held an instrument drive and was able to donate instruments to our school to be loaned to students who want to learn to play an instrument, but perhaps cannot afford to buy their own. The work was successful and greatly appreciated and will be put to good use.

Here are the results of that instrument drive reported by Teona Humphries:

The Drama IV class was joined by Mrs. Keliikiki’s Foods Class students
in pulling off another great Drama Dinner Theater! While the Drama IV
class presented "The Snow White Variety Snow," the Foods students
prepped food and served the audience. Thanks to all of the students
and teachers involved for putting on a fantastic event!

Salem Junior Shakespeare Team

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on

Some of you may not be aware of this, but our school has an excellent Shakespeare performing team. Every year, students on the team learn about at least one of Shakespeare's famous plays. They study it and learn the meaning of the lines and then rehearse monologues and scenes from the play.

Eyes Up, Do the Work - Anti-bullying assembly

Submitted by sam.mcgrath on

Students had the opportunity to sit in on a great assembly today. The message was presented by an organization called Especially for Athletes. The focus of the Especially for Athletes program is to encourage athletes to build good relationships and treat all fellow students with respect, standing up against bullying and being a friend for anyone who needs one.
