Wrestling
Jr. High is a great time to start wrestling. You do not need to have any prior wrestling experience to be on the team. Salem Jr. wrestling practices will begin on Nov. 9th. There will be a parents meeting tonight Tuesday, October 27th at 6:00 PM in the cafetorium. Coach Brindley will be coaching the team this year. If you have any questions please contact him at tj.brindley [at] nebo.edu (tj[dot]brindley[at]nebo[dot]edu)

Tabitha’s Way Can Food Drive
Monday, October 19 - Thursday, October 29 we will be having a canned food drive for Tabitha’s Way.  Our school’s focus is canned corn and chicken broth, however any canned food item is welcome!  Our math classes will be having a friendly competition for the most cans donated.

Basketball Open Gym and Tryouts - Boys and Girls
Open gym will be held Tuesday, October  27 and Wednesday, October 28 from 2:00-4:00 and then November 3 - November 4 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Open Gym is for all 8th grade and 9th grade boys and girls. Tryouts will be held November 9 - 13 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Tryouts are only for 9th grade boys and girls.

Halloween Dress-up
Students are allowed to dress up for Halloween on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Please remember the following things: To help us keep our school safe, students need to be recognizable. Students are not allowed to wear face or body paint and will be asked to wash it off before going to class if they have face or body paint. Make-up should also not interfere with students being recognizable while wearing masks. The only masks that students are allowed are the COVID masks that they have been wearing that are school approved and appropriate. We ask that you do not allow your students to wear costumes that distract from learning in classrooms (big blow-up costumes or other costume accessories that will be distracting). Please make sure the costumes follow the district dress code as well as the safe school guidelines to avoid costumes that contain weapons or facsimiles of weapons. Our Salem Spartans have traditionally made Halloween a fun celebration and it’s one we look forward to!

SHHS State Football
UHSAA has limited capacity to 50%. In order to enforce this, UHSAA is requiring us to pre-sale tickets online. This means that patrons will not be able to purchase tickets at the gate, day of the game. Because of this, no students (high school, junior high or middle school) will be permitted to enter the game without a parent, a ticket and a mask. This will go for the game on this Friday as well as next week's game IF we move forward in the playoffs.

Spirit Week
Paint a pumpkin and bring it to school for our painted pumpkin display in the library. Make sure it fits in your backpack and that it is school appropriate. Pumpkins will be judged and some fun prizes will be given out.

- Wednesday: Best face mask - Covid19 approved face masks.
- Thursday: Halloween dress-up day - See above for details. Each first period class will vote for the best costume in their class and the winner will be sent down to the office for the final judging.
