Yesterday, Mr. Mecham and Mrs. Van De Graaff sat on a panel for a Q and A with 9th-grade students seeking to understand how Olympic Time runs at our school. If this seems a bit unusual, you are right. It doesn't happen very often that students are able to sit down with Admin and teacher leaders and ask them about school programs. The students had this opportunity to help them with a project that they are doing for English.
In order to teach students to work in teams and solve problems, the 9th-grade English teachers have challenged students to develop proposals for how they would change Olympic Time here at Salem Jr. in order to make it more effective. We are excited to hear what they come up with. They have learned about the purpose that Olympic Time serves and are now preparing to develop proposals which they will present in front of their teachers and peers. Who knows, maybe one of their ideas will be put into practice next year.
