School electives are classes that students can choose on their own to help them figure out what they want to do with their future. There are many different electives for each grade that students at Salem Jr. High can choose from. These electives will be the classes you get to choose for the rest of Jr.High. In seventh grade, you can choose between many electives under the categories of fine arts and career technology education. The fine arts electives are Band 1-Woodwind, Band 1- Brass, Percussion Band, Chorus 1, Orchestra 1, Guitar 1, Advanced Guitar, Art Foundations, 3-D Art, and Drama 1. Career technology only has 2 electives under it. These are Exploring Tech and Introduction to Digital Design. You can only take foods in 8th and 9th grade. Eighth grade has a couple more choices than seventh grade under fine arts and career technology education. They also have foreign language, language arts, physical education, and other courses. Fine arts has 24 different options to choose from and career technology education has 7 options. For foreign language you can take German 1 and Spanish 1. You can take Yearbook, Creative Writing, and Journalism for the language arts category. For physical education you can do body conditioning and for other courses you can take peer tutor. Ninth grade has the most electives out of them all, but only by 2 electives. They have 20 electives under fine arts and 10 under career technology education. They also have 3 foreign language classes which are German 1, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2. Language arts also have three which are Yearbook, Journalism, and Creative writing. Physical education has two which are boys and girls Body Conditioning and Health 2, and other courses are Peer Tutor and Seminary. I hope this help all you students figure out ahead of time what electives there are to choose from next year!
