Spooky Halloween Dance!

On October 26, 2012, Salem Jr. High hosted their first ever Halloween Dance.  Many kids came to enjoy lively music, cheap drinks, and more!  Asking teens that went to the dance, I got great answers on what they liked.

"The Halloween Dance was awesome," one kid said. "I loved the DJ and the spooky decorations.   I really look forward to the next dance!"
"The dance was super fun," another person exclaimed.  "I think the posters on the entrance doors were awesome!  I also thing the photo booth was cool!"
At the dance, the guests were allowed to wear their costumes, as long as it was school appropriate and there were no masks.  There was even a costume contest!  The winners were Haden Loveridge, who dressed up as Super Woman, and the two peacock girls!
Sierra Draper and Sidney Button, the dance specialists on student council, were in charge of planning for the dance.  They are the reason it was amazing!
The Halloween Dance was a complete success.  The people who came had a lot of fun!

Mrs. Kimball, Mrs. Beardall and Mrs. Cook show their Halloween spirit!

A very exciting event occurred at our school on Halloween! There was a costume contest during lunch.  Students strutted across the stage to show off  their Halloween costumes.  All of the costumes were very creative.  The costumes were varying from a penguin, Super Heroes, and even peacocks.  The students got to show off their creativity through their costumes. A special group at our school called the Spirit Club judged and hosted the Halloween Contest on stage. The standout winners were the REAL Gingerbread man, Jack Sparrow, and the Missionaries!  The kids enjoyed their opportunity to shine on stage in front of their fellow students. Even some of the teachers got into the spirit and dressed up to show their support of Halloween. The head of the Spirit Club, Mrs. Bray, was Where’s Waldo?  This was a very fun event and we hope it will be back next year.

SaJHS Orchestra entertains at Spartan Target Conference

Our first Spartan Target Conference was a huge success!! Students explained to their parents the topics they have learned and then established an academic or behavior goal that will be reviewed at the next conference. We had 73% attendance at the conference which is phenomenal - thanks to our students and parents for their support!
