Welcome to Salem Junior High School
Hours for Main Office: M-F 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Closed Saturday-Sunday
Our mission is to prepare young people to be strong in all aspects of their lives. We strive to cultivate an atmosphere of academic excellence, respect, and sense of community. We value innovative ideas and make decisions that help ensure student's learning and success. We provide multiple opportunities for students to be actively engaged both in and out of the classroom.
Salem Junior High Spartans are strong in Body, Heart, and Mind. Our Bodies are actively engaged in school sports, extracurricular activities, and keeping ourselves physically healthy. Our Hearts advocate for respect and loyalty among our peers, teachers, staff, and administrators. Our Minds are innovative, open, and driven to strive for academic excellence and critical thinking.
New Students: If you are a new student here at Salem Jr. or you haven't ever checked out a Chromebook, please stop by Mrs. Teuscher’s room #104 and get a permission slip. Then bring the signed permission slip back to Mrs. Teuscher and she'll get you taken care of. We highly encourage you purchase the Insurance for the Chromebook for $30.00. If you do not buy the insurance, you are liable for any and all damage to your Chromebook. You can pay Mrs. Cook in the finance office with cash, check or credit card.
Our own Nikki Lamoreaux, math teacher, was published and featured in the National Mathematics Teacher: Learning and Teaching PK-12 (MTLT) publication.
Teaching is a Journey provides space for PK-12 teachers of mathematics to connect with other mathematics teachers through their stories that lend personal and professional support. In the January issue, junior high school mathematics teacher, Nikki Lamoreaux, shares how she incorporated the principles from a three-year professional development program focused on comprehensive mathematics instruction into her classroom.
Changes to Quarantine: There have been some changes made to our procedures dealing with COVID cases. In the past, when a student tested positive and was at school during their contagious time, we had to quarantine all students that were in close contact with that person. Now, as long as all students wear their masks, we will not have to quarantine those that have been exposed at school.
This is a friendly reminder that you have until the end of the day on January 5, 2021 to change between Remote and At-School learning. If you would like to make a change and haven’t already done so, click on THIS SURVEY to submit your decision.
